Azerbaijan, UNDP discus new areas of cooperation

Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov met with the UN Resident Coordinator, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Azerbaijan Antonius Broek.


Speaking about the role of communications and high technologies in the successful development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, Minister Ali Abbasov underlined the implementation of a number of projects within the framework of cooperation. The Minister said that the relations between Azerbaijan and the United Nations are based on the principles of reliable partnership  and expressed confidence in further deepening of these relations during the tenure of Antonius Broek in the country.


In turn, the UN’s official representative said that he closely follows the reforms carried out  in the country, expressed satisfaction with the announcement of the information and communication technologies (ICT) priority in the economic development of the country and highly appreciated  the work ongoing in the area of high technologies to diversify the economy of Azerbaijan.Noting dynamic and wide-ranging partnership of UNDP with the Government of Azerbaijan,  Antonius Broek said  the strengthening of relations provides a solid foundation for further cooperation and emphasized the interest in the project Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) which is coordinated by Azerbaijan.


During the meeting, they also exchanged views on new areas of cooperation with UNDP in the field of ICT, including projects to be implemented during the current year.
